700P
helps make short work of welsh wonder wall

Drylining contractor GHT Plastering Services has saved
several weeks on building and cladding what is billed
as the largest wall in Europe using the Pulsa 700P cordless
nailer from ITW Construction Products. The wall forms
part of the new Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.
The twin frame wall, which is twenty metres long and over
35 metres high, forms part of the new Centre's main auditorium
flanking the right hand side of the stage. With over 2,800
square metres of board on each side the project was certainly
a challenge for the GHT team. But using the Pulsa 700P,
lining the massive structure took two dryliners just four
weeks to complete.
GHT's site supervisor Wayne Taylor knows that the Pulsa
700P offered him considerable savings in time - and money
- on site. "The men using the new tools are really
pleased with them. Each side of the wall would have taken
over a week longer to complete using traditional drilling
and fixing, but the Pulsa is light, quick and easy to
use," he comments.
The £104 million Wales Millennium Centre was designed
by The Percy Thomas Partnership and will house many of
Wales's best-known cultural organisations. The main auditorium,
the centrepiece of the complex, will seat over 1800 for
theatre, opera, ballet, and other productions. As well
as the main hall, the five storey structure will house
dance studios, a studio theatre, bars, cafes and restaurants.
The main contractor on the project, due for completion
next year, is Sir Robert McAlpine.
The Pulsa 700P was launched earlier this year as the ultimate
gas powered cordless nailer. The lightest and best balanced
gas fixing tool on the market, the Pulsa 700P will tackle
a wide variety of jobs around site including fixing suspended
ceiling angle-bars, metal lathing, drywall track and timber
plates to concrete but is particularly suited to drylining
work.
With dryliners spending around 50% of their operational
time working overhead the Pulsa 700P features a number
of important new features to make the job easier.
Part of a new generation of 100joules fixing tools, its
3.6kg weight and designed-in balance, the Pulsa 700P requires
only 5kg of actuation force, making overhead working virtually
effortless. Because it is cordless and quick to set up,
Pulsa 700P allows users to work and move quickly and effectively
without restriction.
