"PDQ"
swimming pool refits with ITW Spit Epcon

The wettest site conditions are no problem for ITW Spit's
fast curing Epcon chemical anchor system. It can even
be used underwater. Specialist contractors, Professional
Diving Quality (PDQ), selected the Epcon system to anchor
and seal new water inlets and outlets in seven public
swimming pools throughout Rotherham.
The resin used in the system is the only one suitable
for underwater use, and it becomes completely non-toxic
once set - which takes only two hours underwater. This
unique combination of function and safety makes it the
only resin approved by the water utility supply companies
for use in their treatment plants.
On the Rotherham contracts, Epcon's quick curing time
minimised disruption to the swimming pools' daily schedules,
as Oldham-based Professional Diving Quality could carry
out the work overnight, leaving the pool ready for early
morning swimmers.
Epcon's high load bearing strength was another factor
in selection, as it has to cope with high water pressures
exerted upon the pool inlets. In previous installations,
its performance has been proved against five-tonne pull
loads at the McAlpine Stadium's pool in Huddersfield.
Epcon's resin also resists corrosion from the chemically-treated
water of swimming pools, to a far greater extent than
the rubber expansion seals used with mechanical nut-and-bolt
anchored fittings.
