Spit began in 1949 when
the two founders, a Frenchman and a Swiss, invented
a unique system for firing hardened steel nails into
concrete and steel. (Now generally known as Cartridge
Tools or Powder Actuated Tools: PAT) Spit developed
further technologies for fixing and anchoring in the
construction industry and opened an office in the UK
in 1959. Most of the product is still manufactured in
the French factory in Valence, South of Lyon.

For over 50 years Ramset
has been a market leader supplying construction fixings
including PAT and metal anchors to the UK building industry.
Ramset owns two manufacturing plants in Australia at
Croydon (Victoria) and Lonsdale (South Australia).

Of USA origin, Buildex
developed the first self-drilling and self tapping screw

to in the market using the Buildex brand name of Teks
screw. Other innovative products developed by Buildex
are Timber fix for self-drilling through timber and
Tapcon for self-tapping into concrete.
